Water your lawns please....

Starlings Thrushes etc have had a rough time finding worms with all the dry weather. I read a report that said please water your lawns to help loosen the soil so the birds can get the worms easier.

As you can see this has started to work.

    Hi Mitch

That may well be true but I'm not sure I can agree with you on the course of action. It's not very green in the wider sense of the word to use precious water resources to water lawns. Water comes at a cost not only to us but in the use of energy to treat and distribute. Wasteful use of water contributes to global warming when we should be conserving it as much as possible. That's just my opinion.

I wish I could find this report to paste it into this post.

They listed the billions of gallons of water the caring

water companies waste and continue to waste which we all pay for.

It did say water early so the sun wont evaporate it and only water a section to help.

I watered about 12 feet to help and have put out extra feed too.

We all have choices to make in life

    Take care

  • I water mine too Mitch but use this precious resource responsibly. We never takes baths , always showers, I do one load of washing a week and never use the dishwasher so I feel no guilt in helping the birds out and keeping my lawn alive

And I am watching the speedway grand prix and they are using hundreds of gallons to water the track too.
