I think that takes me up to 37 species in the garden!
I opened the front gate and off they went down the road, presumably heading off to the stream at the bottom of the hill. Its about quarter of a mile away but I have seen other ducks and ducklings make the trek in the past. I hope the traffic is kind to them.
Cheers
Stoat
I'm not bald. I've just got ingrowing hair!
ooh what a yummy mummy she is - looking really proud of herself and so she should

oh lovely ... my duck has abandoned her eggs she laid in my rhubarb ...
Hi Stoat
Aww so cute
I love to see Ducklings at this time of year they are really sweet to look at. Thank you for sharing your extended family with us here.
Dave told me a story yesterday while on his cycle ride to Sandy, Bedfordshire...a car stopped on a busy main road to let a family of Ducklings across the road, and the traffic queued up behind the car - no hooting, or anything.
Nice to think that people really do care about wildlife, instead of tearing around full tilt in their cars oblivious to all living things around them.
Regards
Kathy and Dave

Lovely picture! I do hope they all made it to the stream.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

I drove down the road about half an hour later and there was no sign of them. One of our neighbours has put a pond in that has had ducks landing in the evening so perhaps they went there instead.
Mummy Mallard looks very proud of her set of ducklings. It's great that she nested in your garden and kept her eggs safe until they hatched. Now it's fingers crossed that they got to the stream or somewhere safe for the night.
Best wishes Chris

Nice one Stoat, that did make me smile, it would be good to get an update if you see them again?

I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I spot them again. I'd like to find out which neighbour has got the pond. It might be quite new as all of a sudden there are often ducks flying into land in the evening which has never happened before.
I am also looking forward to getting back to the office to see whats going on on the lakes there. I've been working at a clients for a couple of weeks but should finish there this week.
