I have lots of great photos of my garden birds from my current property

We are lucky to have a large House Sparrow colony

Those are very good photos of them

  • Aww lovely photos Kathy, I wish I got more sparrows in the garden but I usually only get one or two :-(
I take it they aren't recent photos as your title suggests? Only reason I ask as I can see your lilies in bloom and I am always on the lookout for things to plant that will flower at this time of year.... ;-)

  • I dont usually get any for some reason even though theres a flock of house Sparrows in the orchard down the road and in the hedges down there and round the corner near Daniels Brook. It might be cause Theres no hedges in the garden in Kingsway though. However in Hucclecote theres hedges but no sparrows visit.
  • In reply to Zo Clark:

I know that many areas of the UK lack House Sparrows though having said that we (myself and my partner) have always had large colonies at each of the areas we have lived in the UK

So House Sparrows are sadly on the decline - we need to support them with Sparrows nest boxes, lots of dense hedges and less preening of our garden space.

As UK residents, we are too proud of our garden space and far too tidy. We need to think more of our wildlife instead.

Aw your very welcome. If you would be so kind in return Kathy to answer my question would be most helpful as I say I am always on the lookout to add to the garden to flower at this time of the year....I dont know that much about flowers other than my  lilies don't flower mid to later summer ...well that's if the slugs don't get them 1st...lol perhaps yours are winter /early spring ones or if its just an old photo  that's fine but an answer would be most helpful ;-)
