I make no apologies .. simply the best looking woodland bird there is! ;o)
I have been making a concerted effort to make the birds less wary of me this week. Whistling gently as I restock the feeder trays with fat sticks and dried mealy worms. Today I was rewarded with a Nuthatch feeding just a couple of feet away from me, utterly unconcerned by my presence. I even managed to reel of ten or so shots of it, and it didn't fly off.
A little moment of magic that has lit up this dreary Wednesday! ;o)

Expect a Gratuitous Robin Photo thread later! ;o)
Great photo Ponty,
They are lovely looking birds. I don't get them in my garden sadly, and not through want of trying!
Cheers, Linda.

Amazing Shot of a beautiful bird.
It's both what you do and the way that you do it!

Here's one of him a week or so ago .. not at his best you would agree! ;o)
Ant,
What a fantastic photo...I cannot wait for the day when I get something a little more interesting than Paul the Wood Pigeon and Malcolm the Magpie in my garden. I don't think I'll ever see anything as exciting as a nuthatch....sigh!

A superb picture and it is jsut to best to see a bird that we love in our midst.
I am like you and I tend to make my presence known with my birds so they get used to me being around them. This does give us access to take photos of them at our leisure without stressing them.
My friendly Blackbird in my last house would have eventually sat on my hand as he was a trusting by as he was.

I am trying to coax my robin to eat from my hand ... just at the start of a process that will take weeks! ;o)
I have just been sat out in my hide/shed and taken a load of photos. Alas they are coming to take my PC away tomorrow, as it needs to be repaired so it may be a while before I get them up on here! ;o/
