Hows it look so far...?

you see I went to Gardeners World Live 2008 (think) and saw the RSPB's new invention of a wildlife stack... fell in love with it and 2 years later have finally stolen, obtained enough materials to give it a go.

Just have to re-adjust the roof bit as I needed to buy a bit of roofing felt.

These are the plans I loosely followed, without a doubt the most comprehensive plans around. :-)

  • Hi Juno,

looks good, you will have to let us know who moves in.

I always wanted to know if they work, ie: get tennats

Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!

WOW! That is impressive.  I'm not sure about builing my own, but saw lot of small ones ready made at garden centre today.

The kids at my school made lots by rolling cardboard in rolls and putting them in marge containers.  Not sure what the uptake was like though.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

I think there is also a Snail in 1 brick.

Cheers guys, I shall no doubt bore you all to death over the coming year with Stack-up-date.

    I blame RSPB i really do. :-)

My BF thinks I'm mad to have spent 2 hours building it in the cold and snow earlier today.!

  • Yeh ! Fantastic Hope you get lots of tenants

Oh Juno, you've out done yourself, have you got planning permission - I'm not sure but I think it might exceed the legal requirements!!!

It is undoubtedly a structure of wonder - well done you, I absolutely love it.    I tried but failed to do a wildlife stack of wood with the wood that I obtained from a reserve, but it only took one rainy Tuesday and the whole thing subsided into the quagmire of my garden - I haven't dared yet to put it back together - yours looks much more sound.  I can't wait to here what tenant issues the snail has!

My nephew works for a company that specialises in wall insulation let me know if your'e interested LOL.

    Snail??!!!!

    Where are my hens??

  • Hi Juno,

    There you go, stealing again!!!!!

I missed this thread first time round. Are there any other inhabitants? I don't need a home for snails in my garden. The whole garden is their home. I get over-run with them.

    Cheers, Linda.
