Sparrow Salad

  • In reply to HAZY:

Thank you for your message. This morning we had a pair of thrushes feeding on the grass, so maybe it’s mate came to rescue it, and perhaps it was strong enough to fly off. I watched for as long as I could! We do have a cat who comes to the garden, as he is always very interested in what is going on under the compost heaps, Best wishes.
  • In the days when we had many more sparrows than the dozen or so there are now, we used to have problems with them eating spring flowers, particularly white or yellow ones - crocuses, primroses, white arabis. They would tear them to pieces. We were never sure whether they ate the petals or were looking for insects.
  • So sweet! Amazing photo!
