Advice on Phygelius please

I have some Phygelius growing against a low south-west facing wall in the front garden. They are shrubby/woody perennials about 600mm high with pretty small tubular flowers. They do quite well but are prone to get rather straggly.

If any of you expert gardeners could give me any advice on how and when to prune them to producea more compact plants I would be most grateful. Also is it possible to take cuttings and propogate more plants.

For those of you who don't know what they are like here's a couple of photos.

A cream coloured one

And a pink one.
