I have just posted this question on the bird I.D. link, because i couldn't find this forum. Sorry mods. Anyway, I will ask my question here as well if thats OK. I am seeing these two wildflowers everywhere on my patch, but not being good at wildflower I.D. I thought I would ask the experts (thats you)
Thanks
There are 9000 species of bird on earth. Let's keep it that way.
The top one is Scarlet Pimpernel, the bottom one i'm still looking at, it could be Bugle or Selfheal, back to my books !!!!!!!
Just checked, the 2nd pic is selfheal,
Is this also selfheal? I have this coming up all over the garden, the bees love it so I've let it stay in some places but would imagine that it is very invasive?.....
Yes indeed Higgy, it is selfheal,
quite invasive as you say, but the insects love it
Thats brilliant. Thanks for doing the leg work sugar. As hiiggy50 says the selfheal seems to be doing really well this year, but as the insects love it then /i am happy to let it spread. How does selfheal get it's name. Is it some sort of ancient medicinal plant or something?
As you say Selfheal is doing well,
it has many names, all medicinal,
here is a link to tell you all about it, it seems to be a very useful plant,
www.altnature.com/.../healall.htm
WOW....That's amazing what a great little plant! Thanks for the interesting link Sugar that was a fascinating read an I will be looking into it further for sure!
As higgy says, what an amazing plant. Who would have thought it could cure so many ills, even cancer. Just shows we should give our humble wildflowers more respect. Thanks for the link, and prompt I.D. If it ever stops raining, I will go off and found some more. Might even make an herbel tea with it.
Let me know how that goes Budgie....if you're still standing two days after I'll have the recipe!! LOL
