Good morning All,
I have a plant which has sprouted up all over my tropical bed and I don't know what it is, can anyone ID it for me please?
Currently it is approx 500cm tall and quite bushy in habit but has strong bright green leaves and a single white flower born on the stem (pictures below)
The bed that it has grown in was new last year and was only planted with a banana tree, cannas, 1 x verbascum, a bamboo and some annuals so not sure where this would have come from.....
Many thanks in advance.....
Not a clue but I have something that looks a bit like that growing everywhere too so I'm curious as to what it is!

Hi KatTai,
That's interesting, must be a weed of some sort then. I'm overrun with it but only in this raised bed so far luckily!
It almost looks a little like a potato plant of some sort!?
Oops...that could actually be what mine is then as I think I just dumped the old tatty compost around the garden...lol Though it has appeared pretty quick while I've been away!
At a quick glance I wonder if it might be 'chinese lantern'. The plain white flower becomes a bright orange pod like seed chamber in the autumn, that goes to a skeleton like lantern with the orange seed in the middle. Dies back in the winter I dont chop leaving the seed head to cheer me up then take to the ground in the spring.
It does spread quite readily so could be it coming from roots deep down.

Excuse wobbily dyslexic spelling!
Thanks Osprey, You are absolutely right!!!!......now that you have said that I remember that my father gave me one of these plants last year and I put it in this raised border and it got overtaken by the cannas and other stuff and I thought died......obviously not!!!!! LOL
I will now look this up and see what it's all about. There are a lot of them so I will have to see if they are worth keeping or if they are going to be a problem?
Many thanks
Just done a little research and have found this for anyone that might find it interesting....

500cm tall!?! That's a big plant!
Ah, yes 500mm I should have said.....but if I was talking in 'proper' English then I should have said:
"ABOUT 19.685 039 37 inch!!!" LOL
