This is growing in my Dads garden, any ideas please.
It looks gorgeous.
Feed The Birds....not the cats!!!!
I know....my spelling's crap !!
Can't see the leaf so can't be absolutely certain - it could be a Welsh poppy but I think it's more probably an Icelandic one.
See here: - http://www.flower-pictures-online.com/icelandic-poppy.html
It's definitely not the equally gorgeous Escholtzia - Californian poppy, the flower's too cup-shaped:-) Pretty.
or for the Welsh here:- http://www.flowers.goodpages.co.uk/index.php?page=welsh-poppy
Have seen it before but i don't know Robbo. It is lovely.
Edit............ i did think poppy.
An optimist sees the beauty of the complete rose.A pessimist sees only the thorn .

Do let me know which you think it is - they're close I think you will agree - it's down to the leaf I think. I'm wavering between the Welsh and the Icelandic - it's one or the other:-(
Think it is a welsh poppy which seeds itself all over the garden.

Think you are right as i am sure i have seen it growing in the wild as well Sooty :0)
Hi all,
Thanks you are all correct, it is indeed a Welsh Poppy having looked at the links Kezsmum supplied.
My Dad has a few clumps of these dotted around his garden, so when they have finished flowering I will get a couple of seed pods and put them in my garden next year. They are a lovely flower.

Yes they are a lovely flower B R and if you get some seed heads and just throw them on bare soil think you will literally get hundreds our garden is full of them and seem to flower over a long period, have known people complain because they took over the garden but they are so easy to grow once settled in garden, that must be the easiest way to garden.Often get a few different shades of orange and almost yellow.
