Forgot I had this plant until its flowers come out on wire like stems before the lovely leaves appear.
I used to have a dwarf white flowered one whos leaves started out chocolate brown and another with sulpher yellow flowers.
I think you can buy cultivars with bigger flowers now.

A very old Shropshire Lad.
What an attractive looking plant!, the delicate pink and white flower petals are nicely complimented by the green/red leaves. Certainly one to consider for adding a splash of colour to a shady spot.

Hi Chris,
Would they grow under a hedge? I have a dry area under my conifer hedge where the bottom of the hedge is bare and needs hiding.
Cheers, Linda.

Thank you Mrs T and Sparrow :-)
This one is growing right under a golden leaved elder if you make sure it has enough water for its first year it stands a great chance of survival. You can leave the old leaves on right through the winter and then cut them off when the flower stems show February / March.
Thanks Chris. I may try some.
