Due to the success of my current two trees (rowan and whitebeam) in their pots, OH is wanting to get some more in the autumn to help provide some more screening for the garden! Means another 4-6 more trees!
One will be a Silver Birch (I like silver birch), and probably a hawthorn but what other trees do you think we should consider? (Not apple trees, already have 4 of those!)
They must be able to live in pots and preferably be hardy - we're up in Scotland so nothing that will easily be killed off by cold! Though I am tempted to go for tree lillies because they look soooo pretty lol

I've had some success with pot grown corkscrew hazel and Kilmarnock willow, they look great and have some wildlife value. Otherwise maybe look at some varieties of Japanese cherry, some can be great conainer trees.

Corkscrew Hazel is a great tree. Flower arrangers will take any cuttings off your hands. :-) There is a lovely deep red version which I have just purchased.
Most smaller Japanese cherries, or Japanese crabs or Japanese Acers will grow in large containers too.

ohh the corkscrew hazel sounds cool! Cherries are out though, OH doesn't like cherry trees because of the blossom going everywhere lol
I have a passion for copper beech not sure whether they can be grown in pots but when we planted our hedge we put one in the back garden (just on the boundry) and just left it and its grown into a beautiful tree
If only I could be free as the birds the places I could visit would be out of this world
