Not sure which Forum I should put this in, so I hope it is OK here. I thought this was quiet fascinating. It's a dead tree with an Elderberry bush growing out of the trunk. Anybody else seen anything like this?
There are 9000 species of bird on earth. Let's keep it that way.
Hi
All I can say no I have never seen anything like that ...how weird :-)

Budgie, I find your picture truly wonderful. From an old gnarled, yet beautiful, tree trunk, new life springs.
It always fascinates me how some plants find the oddest places to take root. Thanks for showing your photograph.
Fascinating, the seed must have been dropped on the old stump by a bird and it has grown from there.

What a great tree, elderberry is such an opportunist and I agree that a bird dropped the seed with a little added fertilizer. Great:-)
Thanks for the comments everybody. I once went to Corsica and saw a tree growing out of a solid rock. I will see if I can find the photo and post it later.
This tree is growing out of a crack in a solid rock. How it survives I have no idea.
