Can you do me with another I.D. please. These flowers are in full bloom now where I live (South West Lancashire), mainly in woodland.
I am sure they are a common flower, and would love to know what they are.
There are 9000 species of bird on earth. Let's keep it that way.
Hi Blackbird. Not sure what cats ears look like but I am sure you had a good day. Thanks everybody for your comments re the wood anenome.
What a beautiful butterfly. I managed a picture of one last year, up near Silverdale in Lancashire
Hi Budgie
Cat's-ear is a bit like a dandelion. We used to have it in our lawn in our old house. It's a weed.
It's very early to see it in flower in April!!

Pipit
Thanks pipit. I have certainly seen loads of these around, but I didn't know they were called cats ears. How did they get that name?
I think it's because the leaves are very hairy like the inside of a cat's ear :)
It may be that blackbird saw Lesser Celandine today.
Did you notice the single flower peeping out among your Anemones?
Cheers
Hope you dont mind me putting up a pic of a single wood anemone from Wenlock Edge a few years ago.
Totaly agree the look so wonderful on mass but they are so simple and a true beauty of the woodland.

A very old Shropshire Lad.
Yes, I did notice the yellow flower, and because of my post last week I now know it is Celandine. (Is it Lesser?)
Wow, thats a beauty Chris S. How could anyone think that our wildflowers are plain
Lovely photos Chris
I think I will have a visit to my local reserve at Putnoe Woods this week to see the carpet of Wood Anemons....as it is a lovely place to visit anytime.
The weather is supposed to be on the sunny side so a trip will be on the cards.
Want to see if there are any Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers too!
Cannot wait to be outdoors once more like we where today.
Regards
Kathy and Dave

From what I remember from mum teaching me the flowers, the Greater Celandine is the Poppy family and the Lesser is the Buttercup family. Greater only has 4 yellow petals while Lesser has lots
