Can you do me with another I.D. please. These flowers are in full bloom now where I live (South West Lancashire), mainly in woodland.
I am sure they are a common flower, and would love to know what they are.
There are 9000 species of bird on earth. Let's keep it that way.
They are wood anemone, I think.

I love wood anemone - such pretty, simple delicate little things and so beautiful en masse which how you usually see them. As you say, spring's fantastic:-) Next thing, bluebell woods -hoorah! We are so lucky in this country to have the largest stocks of bluebells in the world - the blue/purple haze, the scent, the sheer gorgeousity of them. Those, wood anemone and snowdrops en masse too - some of the best floral sights to be found in our woods:-)
Anemone nemorosa (Wood Anemone) :-)

What a lovely photo of Wood Anemones. And I can see a little yellow Lesser Celandine peeping out too.
Lovely woodland flowers

We sayw a small Tortoiseshell in our front garden this morning, and caught it on camera before we went out to Marston Vlae and I will post shortly.
