hi there
I thought I would open this thread for people to use for plant ID's
As i am in an unfamilar garden which is blooming here and there now, and I would like to know the plant species as they are now.
Love t know some of my bushes to the left in my back garden
Lots of this growing down my left border
One large bush growing behind my plastic bird Bath
Lots of this growing behind the bird table
Should know this but need a reminder! Wild Flower?
This is in my front garden in my rockery - no idea?
This might a self seeded one form somewhere esle
Thanks for your help
Regards
Kathy and Dave

Hi Kathy,
Off top of my head they look like....
1. Photinia or some form of Rhododendron??
2. ??
3. ??....I know this one just can't think what it's called!!!
4. Speedwell
5. Iribis (I think)
4. Aubretia
Hi Higgy
Thank you for your answers.
The thing is each time I move i have to find out the plants i have in my latest garden all over again. The garden are not mine so the plants are there for me already as planted.
It is a bit of interest and it is one way of getting to know plant species.
Feel free to post photos of plants anyone for ID-ing purposes
Hi Kathy
I will name the ones I think I know straight away, and will look for and edit in the others that I need to think of the names for.
1) Photinia fraseri 'Red Robin'
2) Spiraea bumalda 'Goldflame'
3)
4) Veronica chamaedrys Speedwell
5)
6)
Best wishes Chris

Hi Blackbird
As Higgy says, the first one is robinia, the third one is skimmia, the fifth one I should know because I've got some on my [very small] rockery. The second one I've no idea about, but may recognise when it's fully in leaf. Hope this helps.
The fifth one may possibly be arabis.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Oh silly me! I was going to say Red Robin Photinia and got it muddled!

Thank you very much everyone for your replies here - greatly appreciated for the ID's. I will keep these notes and learn al of the new names now, and in the future.
Glad that the Speedwell was ID'd. We have quite a lot of it around the edges of our garden border in the back garden. will keep it as it is such an attractive flower
Love the name of the bushes - goes without saying, and they really add some colour to the garden in all its glory. just tastefully done with wildlife in mind.
