SOMETHING has been digging around in one of my pots that supposedly contains peas, though I'm starting to suspect the peas may have since been spirited away by the mystery container raider! I suppose this is why you should use protection for crops lol They could at least wait until something produces fruit/seeds and then raid it, give the veg a chance!

It'll be mice - there's a theory if you use peppermint oil (or extra strong mints)when planting it puts them off - not sure if it works. Another ruse is to get a bit of guttering and plant them in that and when they come up, slide them into the trench you want to plant them in, less root disturbance and I think it's supposed to deter the mice, presumeably because they can't burrow under - but not sure if they'll try getting at them from the top. But mice are almost certainly the villains if the peas have gone:-( Yet another ruse is to put bits of prickly rose prunings in the base of your pot and ditto on top, they don't like thorns in the paws - but then, who does?
Kat, I tried to grow peas some years ago and have never tried since. Rabbits seemed to appear from nowhere and every time a shoot appeared it would be eaten.
Aw I don't mind if it was a little mousey, I like little mousey's lol I'd rather have a mouse in the garden than peas any day!

Another alleged way to keep them off is to spray the pea seeds with WD40 (honestly). I suppose it helps the peas slide through the soil as well.

Hahaha love the mental picture of a mouse with a pea in its paws and then it flying off lol.

There was only 5 or 6 peas planted so it won't be that fat lol must plant some more, think I still have some. Though nothing seems to be growing in the veg containers at the moment *sigh* I hate having to be patient lol
