Ah Ha! A use for my packet of Carex seeds

I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm really not interested in ornamental grasses but I got a packet in with a bunch of other seed packets and now I have found a use for them!  Carex just happens to be one of the plants suitable for use in vivariums so I'll be growing some seeds and hopefully planting them in the new set-up for my sand geckos!  As the carex is red rooster the colours should look pretty cool in their desert set up (provided it doesn't all get eaten up by their crickets) :-)

  • Sounds like an ideal use if you don't 'CAREX' for them too much!!

I actually like the ornamental grasses but they have to be planted on mass to get a half decent effect with them unless mixing them with other plants. I have set an area to plant a few 'well chosen' varieties which i hope when grown will all blend together nicely!

  • Haha @ "CAREX" for them too much!

They look good in the right places but my garden isn't one of them!  There's no where for them to go and I don't fancy having a container of grass lol  They should look pretty cool in a vivarium though as I've seen set-ups that have used Carex to great effect :-)  I have 30 seeds so will plant a few and have a few as back-up just in case, should keep the vivariums going for a while!  Might even try some in my corn snakes vivarium!  Time how long it takes for him to flatten it...

He He....sorry couldn't resist that one, it seemed a shame not to use such a bad gag!
