Spent a lovely time in last few days pottering in the garden. I planted some perennials in a small bed, four of which I knew what varieties they were, but two fall into the UFO category (Unidentified Flowering Objects). They're perennials I've been dragging around in pots all this year (we moved twice), they've lost their labels and I've practically no idea what they are - one could be a Campanula (I think), which variety, I've no idea, but an upright definitely and the other is a complete mystery. I'll await the outcome with interest. Both look really healthy having made it through the winter in pots with no protection, so they deserve their moments in the bed - obviously good 'doers'.The other four were specifically planted to feed insects, but they also have other uses, like they're good vase plants or dry well or both. The marjoram can be cooked as well as attracting hover flies, bees and butterflies. I also planted pots of corncockle, corn marigold, field poppy, poached egg plant and cornflowers seeds and planted out a whole bunch of ox eye daisies that had been languishing in a container for far too long. Having planted a couple of rows of broad beans and another of peas, I planted the same selection of seeds as in the pots and some of the ox-eyes at the end of the trench to attract pollinators in. And anyway, I like to mix things up. No great planner, me, more the gung-ho school of gardening:-))Strawberry runners are going in now, late of course - yum when the season comes though, nothing like warm strawberry straight from the plot, under the tap and in the mouth - drool:-)
Hi Kezsmum.
The Wife and I have planned a day in the garden today as the weather is supposed to be half decent. Plenty of jobs to do, Packets of Wildflower seeds to go in Buddleia's to trim back, lawn to aerate. We have a massive Bay leaf treee at the bottom of the garden that needs some of the top branches trimmed ( dredding this as I hate hieghts LOL ) Lawn rakeing and no doubt plent of other jobs My little lady wants done. Lookinh forward to getting out there.

Good innit?:-)))))
I do a similar thing in that I dig up a plant and wander round the garden trying to remember where I had thought a better place for it would be!
I buy plants knowing exactly where I shall put them but on getting home I find the space was not as big as I thought or just wrong entirely!
There are a lot of plants in pots at the moment waiting to go in but I can't for the life of me think where!
Oh the joys of gardening!!!
It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Great to hear that you've all been busy getting stuff started outside. Even I have managed to get out for a few hours in the sunshine and started staining my sheds, raised beds and gate!.....Decide to go for a dark green to blend them in to the 'garden scape' once things start to grow up a bit I hope they should merge nicely in with everything else and be a little less obvious!
Haven't started planting yet though, I have lots of seeds to go in but no greenhouse at the moment so just trying to decide what to do with them?.....
