Finally got my tree in the ground!!!

On Sunday I decided to plant my new tree,a Rowan 'Chinese Lace'.

I had to cut back a couple of shrubs to accomodate it untill it grows a bit bigger. Then I had to dig a hole,in slightly claggy clay that is not easy,I was also positioned kneeling under the eleagnus as there was not much space to manouvere and using a variety of hand trowel and fork as i could not use a full size spade in the space!

I filled a bucket with the soil and had to clamber out from under the bush to empty it into the wheelbarrow, except I had forgotten to get said wheelbarrow out of the garage!

As I was bringing the barrow out through the garage side door my ankle gave way and I fell heavily and ended up spawled next to the dustbin where I lay for a while wondering what part of myself I had broken.

On finding I was in one piece I staggered into the house where my daughter cleaned up the nasty graze on my elbow and I had a lie down for a bit.Thought I would have lunch before returning to finish planting but while eating the heavens opened and that was my gardening finished for the day!

On Tuesday the weather had improved enough for me to continue and finally got the tree in place.I dug a good size hole but what I found was that however much soil I dug out it never seemed to get any deeper!

Here is my tree in place,it has some buds and my bruises will probably be gone by the time they get into leaf!

It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
