When gardening earlier in the year, we decided to dig up one of the spirea shrubs because there was a rose being smothered behind it. it took a while, but eventually we got the spirea out of the ground and left it on the lawn. The next day we decided to try and replant it in another corner of the garden, not really expecting it to survive the rather harsh treatment it had already recieved. But guess what? It now has little leaves appearing on the branches so it looks as if it has survived the transplant!

I think Spirea is one of those shrubs that can survive drastic pruning every year. :-)
You can also split them in half at replanting time if you want two plants.

This was more that drastically pruned, it was ripped out the ground and kicked to the bottom of the hill lol I'm amazed because it had a solid tap root that took a few whacks with the spade to get it out (since we weren't planning on replanting it we weren't gentle trying to get it out of the ground! I'm surprised it is leafing at the same rate as the other one too, I'd have thought it would have needed some recovery time.
