One clump of my viola odorata is flowering! I must check the other clump tomorrow. I am delighted, I have schlepped a large clump around from house to house in a pot, planted it in separate clumps and sometimes a clump has disappeared to slugs but I've always managed to salvage one clump to carry on. The one I planted at the front of the house has a few flowers. The other clump is in the Devon bank and certainly it's leaves look lush and green, I must check to see if there are any blooms hiding among the foliage. I always gave my mother bunches of Devon violets when I was a kid. Nice to have some actually in Devon! And of course, they're the food plant of some fritallery butterflies along with dog violets...
