During the recent spell of sunny weather ... and before the fog arrived ! I took a few pics of the pond, waterfall, bog garden, reed bed area almost 4 years on from the construction .... amazing how things grow and the transformation. The reed bed grasses grew so wide I had to lollipop trim them a week ago !
Before and after photos ............
then a year or so later .....
and a few days ago ...........
the autumn colours have been stunning this year
looking down on the top of the waterfall, sry about the shadow lol
One thing I can say is that no matter if you only have the area for a small water feature or sizeable garden to create a larger pond, adding any water feature will certainly bring in the birds and wildlife. We've had Redwings, Goldcrest, song Thrushes, Willow Warbler and even a Kingfisher visiting this water area for bathing/drinking as well as the regular daily garden visitors who love the water and also the rocks, nooks and crannies for hunting out those spiders and insects.

You had better patent that idea then Martin, you'd make a fortune.lol
Lot to learn
My pond finally got finished done months ago the birds have been using it to bathe and drink in. I thought I had tadpoles but turns out they are are mosquitoes and I spotted a water boat man the other day. Icing on the cake today saw my first dragon fly which was brilliant it then clung to one of the mint plants with its tail in the water for sometime I hope it was laying eggs so I get nymphs to eat all my mosquitos. Unfortunately there's been no sighting of frogs this year hoping done might find there way as he/she was great at eating all the slugs and entertainment.
Lovely looking pond and garden area Martin, thanks for letting us get a glimpse of your hard work.
Thanks gaynorsl. still learning, usually by mistakes but I love the pond I sit staring into on that bench. It was such a treat to see the dragonfly as it's quite a busy town and only small garden. I was hoping for them but didn't expect it. Can't wait to watch it evolve. Thanks again
