Plans for a new Garden Project for 2014 to follow if of interest - A Running Thread...

    Thanks All,

Don't worry I can assure you that Chox gets lots of cuddles and tickles under the chin LOL!

Yes I am busy which drastically limits my online time unfortunately but I am still planning a couple of new threads when I can! (watch this space!)

Hazy your stumpery sounds like it has also come on well this summer. please do post up some pics or direct me elsewhere if they are on another thread? I tend to drop in on Greenfingers so don't know what's going on elsewhere...

    Best

Please tell me that at least one of them will feature your wonderful sense of humour?

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

if its ok, rather than start a new thread I'll stick a couple of pics of the stumpery on here.    Looking a bit bare now the wildflowers have died back but hopefully come springtime I will be adding to it again and I've even bought some Teasel seeds to put in the garden.   At least the ferns give good coverage for critters, the blue water bucket in the barrel has been changed to a more suitable black colour   lol   and one of the bug/insect houses has been installed !

the fern to the left hand side has grown so much that its covered 4 stumps so will have to reposition it slightly ...

and here is the smaller pond area with butterfly house !

if its in wrong place let me know Higgy as I don't know where you are meant to position butterfly homes  lol

and the waterfall area/bog garden/reed bed are really maturing now;   I have let the grasses grow in the reed bed as it gives more protection for the birds when they come to bathe or drink .....

post edit:  stuck a quick pic in of the pond as a whole ....

Hi Clare, I'll try and compose something just for you....

Hazy that looks fab! It really is coming on lovely. The butterfly house needs to be up on the fence or shed or similar. About head height should be OK like the bug hotels everyone puts up. I've had a butterfly hotel up that my dad made for me last year but it hasn't seen any action yet!....

    You're too kind.

Thanks Higgy,  I will move the butterfly house higher up in the hope that next year we get residents !!     I suppose the famous words "Give Nature a Home" is what we all aim for so its good to have all sorts of attractions just in the hope we see new creatures  :)   thanks again Higgy.
