Very few birds today

I have just submitted my report only three species sighted. It has been the worse record ever for birds and I assume the mild weather allows the birds to get their food naturally without having to rely on garden feeders.

I wonder what that was that just flew past??

I've had six starlings and one sparrow :( I'll have a go tomorrow and see what comes in

Just sat and watched for my hour, so disheartening, the result was nothing! But I had time to contemplate my garden and alter it, maybe the birds will be back for next year! With these next 3 weeks of cold snap they will probably need us. I have 11various feeders all full going to waste :(.

  • In reply to RosieB:

Ah so sad!! but at least they are there should they be needed when time get harder as Arnie said in Terminator "They will be back" used a little licence on that one

  • In reply to TerryRobbins:

Everytime I do birdwatch the  birds seem to know when I'm doing it and vanish. So this time  changed when I was going to do it at the last moment and it paid dividends. 8 different species.

  • In reply to Toby Coulson:

I must of fooled my lot 13 species in a hour on Sunday 7:45 - 8:45.

Did discover that most of my little diamonds use the hanging birdtable so will keep a closer eye on that in the future.

Was a lot more relaxed this being my 2nd year and did the full hour in one go as opposed to 4 quarters last year.

    A very old Shropshire Lad.

We have a had a good hour with 13 species. In reality I only did the watch for 45 minutes because the idiot next door scared them all off by hammering in his garden and than I spent 15 minutes chasing the squirrels off the feeders!

  • Had 9 species including the invasive green parakeets which found my area fairly recently, about two years ago now.

Anyone got the link to record my sightings officially?
