At this time of year I try to make the most of gloriously sunny conditions here. When last Thursday was such a day I headed to the Ferry to see what was showing.
I always know winter has arrived when I see these here:
These beautiful little waders are one of the positive things about this season.
Two's company ............ a black-headed gull and a black-tailed godwit.
One of many redshanks which were about .......... yup, the closest one!
I can never get enough of seeing corvids in the sunshine. This crow is looking stunning.
This is a favourite vantage point for the herring gulls.
Two of many cormorants flying along the coast.
'I'm practising making myself heard in the House of Commons.'
'What do you mean, they won't let me in the House of Commons? My species needs representation!'
'Feeeeeeed meeeeeeeeeeee!'
'How do I get myself out of this?'
Finishing with a black-headed gull leaving a beautiful ripple.
Enjoy!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
fantastic set Clare, the gulls are so good to photograph with their call outs and poses ! It's good to see all the winter waders and makes me feel like another trip to the Wirral coast !

Great to see the waders Clare, and yes Mr Crow is very smart.
Lot to learn
Lovely, Clare--thanks! Your Gull shots are better and better! And I love the waders and the handsome Crow.
Kind regards, Ann
Lovely pictures Claire, makes me realise we've not been to the Ferry this year, New Years resolution. Is the cafe at the ferry still thriving? They used to do cheese scones the size of footballs awhile back.

Lovely pics, as ever, Clare. My favourites are the flying cormorants :-)
