It was really cold here on Sunday - it felt more like January! Happily it was also gloriously sunny so I took my camera to the Ferry to see what was about.
It's fairly inevitable that the first bird I see will be a gull.
This chilled out herring gull was doing its best Garfield impression.
It was high tide and the wind was blowing straight at the sea wall. You can really appreciate why the wall is that shape!
Heading out to sea......and rolling well.
The beautiful Bawdsey Manor.
I don't see raptors here that often so this kestrel was a welcome sight!
A black-headed gull taking it easy.
What a day for a helicopter flight! Wish I'd been up there.
A fed-up looking young herring gull.
'Got anything to eat?'
'Bring me food!'
'Can't you hear me? BRING ME FOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!'
'Shouldn't Junior be getting his own by now? You've got to let him grow up some time, dear.'
Enjoy!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Nice shots Clare, I know exactly how the young react to the parent as have one gull on the roof that makes one heck of a din first thing in the morning! Must have been the last one born this year and is proper stroppy.
Lot to learn
