A Crow at Thorpeness

I'm lucky enough to volunteer at Minsmere each Friday afternoon.  I usually pop in at Island Mere Hide when I've finished but today I felt like something different so I headed to Thorpeness to see what was about.  I expected to see a good number of water birds and I wasn't disappointed there - but then this very handsome bird overcame his nervousness and posed very nicely for me.  On seeing the photos I decided he merited his own thread:

I don't need to point out the lovely sheen of his feathers, do I?

Or the intelligent way he's taking me and my camera in:

He then decided to move to a better viewing point:

I liked the way he was sitting so proudly:

I could quite happily have taken him home with me.  I hope you like him!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
