.......and what a glorious day it was. It was low tide and a bit on the quiet side, but a few of the usual suspects were about and doing their usual thing. This particular herring gull seemed to be having a moment's bemusement as it shared a post with the ornamental puffin:
'It's cute, but what is it doing here?'
'I can't even eat it.'
'I've never seen it fly, either.'
This gull was making some beautiful ripples in the otherwise calm water:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Lovely pics, Clare. It looks really tranquil there but I bet the seagulls were making enough noise . I've just been out to feed the birds and the Herring Gulls were certainly letting me know they were there.

I think the sheer racket is one of the reasons I love gulls so much! It just wouldn't be the seaside without them.

I suspect the ferryman was responsible for the puffin. I think it's adorable, and a relentless succession of gulls seem quite happy to post next to it - even the great black-backs.

Really nice scenic shots on what looks like a nice day. I love the Herring Gull with the Puffin ornament. I wonder if it is to scale because Puffins are quite small when you see them up close and The gull dwarfs it.
