Was thinking about how much Brenda posted on the DYFI thread, especially last season where she liked to post her captures of Monty, Glesni and family, so thought it would be nice to dedicate the first thread starting off the new season to Brenda.
She along with Margo will be sadly missed from this forum, it is so sad that we have to start off with the loss of not one but two valued members.

10 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DYFI 2017
Mary, Thanks for the new thread and the lovely tributes to Brenda and Margobird. Fingers crossed that all our favourite Ospreys return safely, despite our knowing that they might not all return.
Kind regards, Ann
I know Ann, while its exciting to start the new season it is always in the back of my mind that there may be some of our Ospreys who do not make it back and this is the sad part of being an Ospreyholic.
I have been following since 2011 and don't think there has been a year where they all made it back sadly, some years are sadder than others like last year with the loss of Beatrice and 03(97), it's something I try to prepare myself for each year but I am afraid it is still a very hard pill to swallow.

Thank you, Mary, such a lovely start to March and the 2017 Dyfi season.
So much to look forward to, but no doubt a few tears wil be spilled over all the nests. But one exciting thought I have is who will turn up somewhat unexpectedly on the nest this year. Who will pop in to say hello, or indeed try to usurp the regular incumbents. Remember, nothing about ospreys is predictable!

Nice to see you, CIRRUS.
Mary, It is very easy to become attached to individuals--they are all such characters which makes it especially tough when one fails to return. Or perhaps I am becoming soppier as I age! I've only been following them seriously since 2013 and even the tragedy of Caledonia (who hatched and migrated before I started watching them) hit me hard. But hope springs eternal and fingers crossed for those we have left!
Beautifully put Ann.
