Two latest snippets from data-Mike (thanks Mike)
Friday 18th April: Breagha has been more active over the last 3 days although staying in his current ‘home’ territory S of Elinkin. On 15 April he made a round trip of ca. 10 km NE and on 16 April another ca. 10 km round trip W returning on both days to the same overnight roost spot which he also occupied overnight on 14 April. This roost is on the banks of a large tributary/tidal waterway in the mangroves.
Monday 21st April: Breagha has expanded his ‘home’ territory over the last three days to around 4 km and has been much more active. He did round trips on 18th April of around 10 km, 16 km on 19th and 6 km on 20th visiting various parts of the mangrove area. On 19th April he visited one of the spots NE of the ‘home’ range that he has visited on a number of occasions over the last week or so but unlike the last report he has not shown a favoured location for roosting. Breagha is obviously quite active and is presumably happy with his lot and the current location for good fishing.
All's good here on site at Loch Garten, basking in some spectacular weather. The happy couple are into a good routine. EJ's doing all we need her to do, and Odin mucks-in too, furnishing her with fish and dutifully takes over incubation while EJ dines.
Our fingers are crossed for a continued trouble-free season thus far. All being well hatching could commence anytime from 17th May, give or take a day or two, 18th more likely. Anyway, a reminder then that we plan to satellite tag the chicks and monitor their migration - but we need your help.If you felt inclined to support this project and help us fund the tags and data download costs, then please chip-in, if you can, by following the link below to the Just Giving Page.http://www.justgiving.com/ospreyslochgartenThank you to those who have so kindly and generously donated already and thank you in advance to anyone else who further contributes to the fund.
