Good morning. We hope you are all having a good Easter. Our Wild Things at Easter trail around Brandon Fen started yesterday and here are some pictures of what activities will be on offer until Sunday 15 April:

The first challenge is pond dipping. You can use the nets and trays provided to find out what lurks underneath the depths of the reserve pools:

The nets and trays will be always down there when you get there so you don't need to worry about carrying it!

You will then get to our new hopscotch area, so you can play a game of hopsotch! Here is the area without numbers:

...And here it is after Warden Emma and  volunteerJanet chalked the numbers on:

You will then reach our new balance beam, so you can balance on the beam like a bearded tit balances on a reed stem.

Here is Site Manager Dave putting the finishing touches to the balance beam:

Around half way round the trail, you will find some "nesting material", so you can build your own nest and take a selfie in it (don't forget to add the hashtag: #wildthings if you share it on social media!)

You will then reach the sandy area in Brandon Fen, where you can use the bug hunting kit that we will lend you at the visitor centre to look for some of the creepy crawlies that call the reserve home:

Just before you reach the car park, you will find our new den building area, where you can build your very own den:

You can then come back to the visitor centre to make your own nature crown.

You can either decorate this using natural materials that you have found on your way round or with some of the materials on our craft table:

You will then receive a certificate for completing the trail and a small memento to remember us by.

The trail is around three quarters of a mile long and the Easter trail will run until the end of the day on Sunday 15 April. The trail is free for RSPB members. The charge for non-members is Adults £3, Children £1.50. First child free per party and children under five are free.

We hope to see you there!
