Tree cutting on railways

Recently i was advised that National Rail were carrying out tree maintenance on the railway line at the bottom of our garden. This was because of overhanging branches and "leaves on the line". I agree this does periidically need doing. I went away for 5 days and on return they had completely chopped all trees growing on their embankment down. No gentle pruning, just chopped them down. I immediatly e mailed National Rail and got the usual reply about having to maintain the line. I live on the Southern Rail in Worthing.

Now all of our birds have gone, to the few trees left in this area. Are the RSPB aware of this and what is your response. I was furious. Is this happening all over the country?

  • Hi Sue, you may not get an official RSPB reply, as this is just a community public forum, where like-minded folk can exchange views/ photos and stories.
  • Hello Sue, if you hit main website, at the top of the page, then scroll down, you will see all the options on how to contact RSPB, just under those options, there is an option that says quick links, hit that and you will get a range of links for whatever your query is, telephone numbers etc.
