How is it that you've just got the bird in focus and a nice pose when it suddenly turns around and instead you get that so called Bum view LOL I'll leave the Id's to you but you'll still recognise them !!!

Well done Monkeycheese, this is just one of the Robins that have been around all day, he/she seems to like this feeder, heres the front view.
Lovely photo Maria. I spend most of my spare time photographing the robin in my garden (and his new Mrs), so maybe I had an unfair advantage lol
So how do you sex a Robin? I also have this one which has a rather short tail
There isn't any obvious difference visually. Even the robins can become confused at this time of year when they are pairing up. The behaviour can give them away if you watch them for long enough. If the same robin had remained in your garden and has been joined by another, the chances are the new robin is a female. The robin in your photo looks like it is responding to the presence of another robin. BR (my male robin) reacts like that when Mrs BR is close by. Here's a video of it.
