Blue tit question

We have had a pair of blue tits who have commanded total control over their territory and on Sunday 18th the fledglings left the nest. I believe it may have been 5 with all but one flying into the nearby bush - the other fledgling flew to other side of garden and waited  - the parent came close by to a feeder but didn't go over to it  - it flew into the hedge opposite and a short while later the fledgling flew into the bush.

Now my question is this;

Since the fledglings left we have not seen or heard from our pair of bluetits - the same day they fledged.

Is this normal? are they keeping a low profile?

I have seen it just once briefly but on its own this morning.

Our feeders are active with baby starlings and finches etc but no real sighting of the tit/fledglings. We do have a thick dense hedge that runs around 130ft to end of garden - I'm hoping they are silently in there!

  • It is normal for blue tits to leave the nest and not be seen again. It's highly likely you'll have more than just two adults in your area, so any coming to the feeders might not be yours. Quite a few young birds, incl blue tits, get picked off very quickly. They need to find relative safety when leaving the box. Many gardens don't offer that. Ditto natural food sources.
