Slightly surprised to find these on a very wet, grey and muddy New Years Day

Thanks, Peewit.
Allium in back garden, having survived squirrels and the very cold November and cold winter. Great for bees, hoverflies, etc.
Alliums in front garden fare better - no squirrels for one.
Another great plant for insects, Weigela. Hack back this year's flowering stems after flowering. New growth will produce lots of flowers next spring.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The walled garden at NT Attingham Park is looking quite splendid this year. The Peonies are doing very well and there is a real assortment other offerings including a delicate pink Toadflax that I was very taken by. There were a couple of beds filled with a verity of Poppies and Cornflower + other wild flowers and they were buzzing with bumbles
You mentioned peonies Cin... One of ours
