2022 YEAR LIST - here we go again:

New year - new blank list:

We started early- team of 4 and did a  traditional Jan 1st route  around the NW corner of Norfolk

8 1/2 hours and a  Chinese takeaway later it was 100 spp , 

The weather and wind direction were against us and some staked out regulars let us down - but it was better than last years !

Best birds were SEO, Tree Sparrow, Great Northern Diver , Black Necked Grebe, Cattle Egret, Bullfinch, Nuthatch, Marsh Tit.

  • It was our group "big bird day" last weekend where a number of us try to see how many species we can find in our recording area. In our squares we got our first Cuckoo but most interesting bird for our area was a Common Crane, a bit of a rarity in our area. I'm not sure of the total number of species seen yet but we were hoping for 100 plus

  • A three day birding trip to the Northumberland coast got me a total of 70 species including 10 new for year's. Year bird number136 was a lifer too, Little Tern.

  • We are hoping to get back to Northumberland again for the Terns Shaun, we can usually find Little Terns nesr the Long Nanny nest area where the N.T. protect them

  • Yes, that's where they were, Pete. Roseate Terns at Druridge Bay too.

  • We are hoping to get the Roseate Terns on a boat trip round Coquet Island from Amble weather permitting

  • We have done well recently with Woodchat Shrike, Glossy Ibis and Little Gulls plus a shedload of Cettis Warblers

  • Had a slow walk around Santon Downham today and saw several pairs of breeding Tree Pipits, Grey Wagtails Treecreepers and Mandarins
