Strange new symbol has appeared on Home page

I've just noticed this symbol has appeared on the Home Page. If you click on it it seems to refresh the page.

It takes you back to the Community Home page rather than simply refresh the one you're on. Not too sure why it's appeared - though it's useful for when the RSPB logo (that also takes you to Community Home) doesn't appear!

It doesn't appear if you're in a thread ......... so I'm struggling to see the point of it.
