Three Beauties There Jez Not often you get gold crests and nuthatches to feeders, well not in my neck of the woods anyway.

The nuthatch has been a regular visitor for quite a while now which is good. I first saw the goldcrest when we had the week of snow, a female I think and she has been a fairly regular customer at the seed café.

Nice photos Jez, lovely for you to get the wee Goldcrest and Nuthatch, both I have not seen in the garden or seen at all, not forgetting one of my favourites, Mr Robin.

Thanks Cl, I do have a soft spot for Mr and Mrs Robinalthough I do wish they wouldn't beat up all the other visitors. I've been wanting to get a half decent camera for a while now, my compact camera was fine for scenic views and objects but anything small and fast moving, forget it. Just got to learn how to use it now, so many buttons..!

Very nice photos Jez, I see the blue and long tail Tits like the fat balls
I have started making my own now, they seem to prefer them to the shop bought ones.
Although the birds in your photos seem to like yours.

Thanks Robins.
I’d been thinking about trying to make my own but I’ve still got a tub of them to get through first. The birds seem to prefer the suet cakes to the balls, I usually end up having to throw the balls away, well, in with my food waste. The winter berry suet cake has been a big hit. Oddly enough I got some coconut winter berry feeders too but they’ve largely been ignored.. Fussy lot ..

Thanks Robins, looks like living in hope had paid off. I think the other male blackcap is still around too as I noticed slightly different markings when I took some pics of a second visit. The light had gone so they didn’t come out too well but I’ll see what I can do. Late afternoon two gold finches dropped by for some nibbles. I’ll load them up over the weekend.
