Nest cam advice

Hi!

i have recently set up a nest box with camera inside. Within days a pair of sparrows began building a nest.

its been amazing watching them work but a little problem has arisen!

some of the nesting material they have brought in is now almost completely obscuring our view of their activities.

is that just tough luck or is it safe (or even legal?) to approach the nest and move the material obscuring the view?

they don’t currently stay in the nest overnight.

any advice would be really appreciated!

thanks

  • Hi Baxt, I think once the 1st piece of nesting material has been laid it is illegal to do anything to interfere with the nesting, so, to use your phrase, its just tough luck. Keep watching though, as with the birds entering and leaving, and hopefully eggs being laid, the bedding material will get shifted about, maybe allowing a clearer view
  • Hi pimpernebloke, I suspected this would be the case!
Well it’s still interesting watching and listening to their comings and goings as it is!
I’ll just keep my fingers crossed things move like you say and the view improves!

Thanks very much for your input
