Knot or not?

Please can someone help identify this flock? I saw them wheeling about by the river Ore at Orford - then land on a field on the marshes.

I have been looking at various bird books but am a bit confused.

Also, can anyone tell me how to load my pictures up so they appear full width, rather than half the size of other people's posts? thanks

They appear to have grey legs and short beaks, but a black tail in flight.

    Hi Tony

    I tried this with my original photo post - and if you go to Edit - then click on the image, handles appear on all 4 corners, and so you can expand the image that way as well. Interesting! I don't know if the results are the same as you get when you edit the pixels on the pop up, though.

    I was wondering about the zero, though - why is that? I would have expected you need to keep the same horizontal/vertical proportions to avoid distortion? Interesting...

    Aha - I now see that the ones I resized using the corner handles are much less clear than the one I uploaded using the method you described. You learn something new every day!
