Please Identify The Mystery Bird

In spring last year and again this year a bird call has mystified us.  We live in a small hamlet surrounded by agricultural land, hedges, trees, etc.  Nobody has been able to spot the bird(s) as it seems very secretive, but its call is heard throughout the hamlet.

The "main" call is a rise and fall sequence of approximately 8-10 notes/whistles. A bit like doh, ray, me, fa, so, fa, me, ray, doh.  This is sometimes followed shortly afterwards by a sort of repetitive whirring, like a siren or alarm going off.

I have managed to get a low quality recording of the calls, but this hasn't  matched with any of over 100 birds that I've checked it against.

Please solve this one.
