About a month ago I collected a young Collared Dove from a Kingston vet and took it to Liz at Forget Me Not Wildlife Rescue. Before leaving, I took the CD out into the garden, so really that was a cheat lol
Charlene the Collared Dove on the scales
Outside in the garden
Today, the Pigeon Mafia had a special visitor. A Collared Dove joined them on the ground as they were tucking into some seed. I have no idea where it came from, but it seemed quite at home with the flock of Ferals. I thought that was rather unusual, but since I don't see many CD's, I might be wrong.
Hopefully this was the first of many visits and maybe there will be a pair next time?
Nice to see another successful release.
The CDs I get in the garden (only 2 or 3 and only as occasional visitors) are content to eat in the company of ferals and woodpigeons but I wouldn't say they really socialise with them.
The CD that visited the garden was not Charlene. She went to the rescue centre in Wallington. This was a random passer-by.
We have quite a few CD's around us but I've never seen them around the pigeons before. I hope it finds a mate for you.
Nice for you got get the CD as a visitor Paul. This year we have around 10 that come about. They are very nice looking birds.
That is one brave C Dove MC. Usually I find they keep their distance from the Ferals who are that much bigger. Hope you get to see more in your garden as they are smashing birds.
