Winter Colours & Snowdrops

As the sun was shining on Wed we went over to one of the best winter gardens in the UK to walk through the winter garden and see the snowdrops. Anglesey Abbey is an NT property outside Cambridge just of the A14 and is renowned for its snowdrops, well over 100 varieties. A little colour for these dull days.

Witch Hazel is amazing, must get one/three for the garden

These birch's are washed by the NT to keep the trunks gleaming white and they look great against the black soil.

And of course you can't beat an NT scone & tea.

  • Anglesey Abbey looks like a wonderful place to visit Tony and your photos have done it proud with that beautiful carpet of pretty snowdrops, the various grasses/shrubs/trees like Dogwood, and not forgetting Hazel of course lol  We also have the aptly named Hazel - Hamamelis witch hazel variety !  Love the ghostly Silver Birches standing out well against the black soil.   Will have to put this place on our visit list if we are anywhere near Cambridgeshire.

  • It is a great walk around the garden at this time of year Hazel, so full of colour. The house is also interesting with some fascinating old clocks. It has a working mill with their flour for sale.
