Mrs WJ and I were in Norfolk last week, up near Cley. A lovely week of birds & photography (still sorting the 6000 images), but one evening as dusk fell, an Osprey flew over the cottage we were staying in! It was nearly dark and a little way off, but I managed to get a quick picture....
Sorry, couldn't resist :-)

That's beautiful!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Fabulous owl pic. Mind you, I quite liked the "Osprey" - I have a soft spot for ugly aircraft that look like they shouldn't be able to fly.
"Let loose the Kraken!"
WJ after that Owl photo you can be forgiven an awful lot, great photo
Agree on the appearance of the "other" Osprey Clare,it would never win many beauty contests.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
It's a great place to see the Barn Owls, though you have to have your wits about you - twisty A roads are not the best place to be suddenly distracted by the other half yelling "BARN OWL" in your ear....

WJ, Love your Barn Owl photos! Some years ago we had a rented cottage at Cley and while we were sitting on the balcony in the early evening we saw a lovely Barn Owl hunting over the reed beds near the cottage--just magic.
Kind regards, Ann
