I'm starting a new thread as the old one is playing up. Here's a snap of the sea from Felixstowe Ferry to start it off:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Willow, your photo is FANTABULOUS! Great wave action!
Hello Mary We did have the beach to ourselves as it was very windy and cold.I love the sea in wild weather. It keeps the people away as well!
Another very wind day sand blowing everywhere!
Another good story-telling photo, Willow. I bet those storm clous are moving right along with the wind blowing the sand about.
I've experienced that, too. Wind so strong the sand blew straight along parallel to the ground and several feet above it.

Too right Willow, there is nothing like getting all wrapped up and venturing down to the beach when no one around, have done it a few times, one time on Luskentyre in February it was snowing, now that was really freezing LOL....
Your latest photo just reminds me of that! Lovely dunes & white sand! I remember way back in the 60's visiting Gt. Yarmouth and the guest house owner told us to go to Camber Sands, but we never did. (that was a long while ago) LOL.... you probably weren't even born...
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Found a couple of photos from Luskentyre on the Isle of Harris.
These two taken in March 2004
This was Seilbost on Isle of Harris taken February 2010.
St. Abbs in October 2012.
I hope this thread keeps getting added too, it is just a pity the other one was playing up as there were so many fabulous photos posted on it.
Oh I bet I was Mary I am 57! LOL The best age to be!! Not far from retirement and plan to fill every day possible, like my parents did! Will try to persuade OH that we should get a small camper van as he hates tent camping but I actually love it. A camper van would be a compromise!
June nice to bump into you at the sea again LOL.When the sand blows like that you have to shut your eyes because it gets everywhere! Off to Loch Garten now!
Wow Mary just seen your photos! Beautiful and it really does look cold! I love the sea spray coming off the waves. OH and I tried to cross by ferry to Skye but the ferry was cancelled due to high winds so got stuck at Mallaig and it was bitterly cold on that day even my dog was shivering and she was really tough! We dived into a lovely little café before heading back. Will go back there again one day.
Thanks Willow.
LOL you would be in infant school way back then then.
I hope you get back to Mallaig too, its a lovely drive up the road to the Isles, you can come in your Camper Van when you retire LOL...
