Paul A's picture of his packed lunch has inspired me to start this thread. What do you have in your packed lunch? If you prefer to dine in style, which pubs, RSPB cafes or takeaways do you recommend? Pictures would be good too.
I'll start with our normal:
Our best ever lunch (late) was in Sardinia. We'd just finished a 12 mile walk in 35 degree heat and had core temperatures rather hotter than the sun. We staggered onto the terrace of a sea-front cafe and ordered huge bowls of Italian ice-cream with half litre of Peroni chasers - wonderful :-)
"Let loose the Kraken!"
Definitely not Jeff Mauro, the sandwich man. I knew that all along. Was just testing you.!! :-)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I know is it James Martin? He makes really posh picnic food.
A shot in the dark here, but could it be James Martin?
I think he makes really posh picnic food. :-)
Summat gone wrong with this thread, when I click on last post all I get is heading & no content!!
Went in from start & worked through which gave me opportunity of seeing very, very big hint from CL! Lol
Of course you are both right but no prizes unfortunately only the relief of you knowing it may be a long while til I land another conundrum on you!
Shot in the dark indeed!
The thread does the same for me, Wendy. Life would be boring without complications.
I hadn’t realised that Catlady had posted the same answer as me, what a strange coincidence.!! :-)
Hmmmm!
Great minds think alike Paul, Lol!
On the subject of food :) and this time, just for a change, I'm not making pastry for the birds ....... here's what we had for dinner tonight and 5 more dinners for two in the freezer !
Chilli beef with vegetables ..............
firstly, the red wine is VERY important LOL ;) that is if I don't drink it before it goes into the mix ha ha
quick flash cooking of the vegetables in olive oil/butter: basically anything I had in the fridge !! leek, onion, garlic, red and yellow peppers, red/green chillies, swede, carrot, celery, cauliflower, fresh cherry tomatoes, added to which are red kidney beans, tomato puree, fresh0 corriander, and not forgetting RED WINE :) !!
put partly cooked veg to one side
now for the steak mince which was blended with all sorts of chilli spices and a little ground black pepper :)
add cherry tomatoes ...
add freshly chopped corriander :)
add the flash cooked vegetables ......
and simmer on low for ................ hour and half +
leave to cool and fill the containers LOL ta dah !!
and there's still some wine left !!
