Garden Species count

After seeing a Stock Dove visit the garden for the second time,  I seem to have lost count of the different species we have had visit our garden over the last year or so and made this list to check and it seems I lost count somewhere and we are up to 33,  as follows   LOL        We don't have them all now as the Peacock has left after an 8 month stay and the Wagtails have gone missing at the moment and of course the Redwings, Blackcap, Thrushes are not always here but it was interesting to list them so I have a record to keep of our lovely feathered friends :)

Feel free to list your species and the area you are in and any birds that have ever visited your garden but not fly-overs   LOL

  • I have a list of 23 at the moment,I would love to have some of those on your list!

It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.

  • Hazy, I have 24 of yours plus Starlings and the friendly neighbourhood Kestrel.  We were getting a Rook at one point but I now haven't seen one feeding here for more than a year.

I should also mention the Herring, Lesser Black-backed and Black-Headed Gulls who come down in spite of Limpy's efforts!!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Wow, Alan - that's impressive!

  • Fantastic list of species Alan and some I could only wish for including the sound of a Yellowmammer  !!  thanks for your lists as it's lovely to hear which species visit the forumites :)      as much as I like Starlings I think they would bump my food order up a tad and also sparrows so I'm happy with this current group of birds for now  LOL,   a Kestrel sounds special as do the Gulls to the garden - I would have to live nearer the coast or by a big lake to see those  !

  • Wow Birdie, that's awesome !    what an amazing count :)

  • These lists are great :)    I would love to have had Waxwings in the garden Appleanne, that's a brilliant one for the count.     And Clare with the Kestrel visiting ....   that's what dreams are made of  LOL      Congrats on your 1st blackcap too.

  •

This was about the best view I got, Hazy, of the only one I've seen there but it did come during my BGBW - how thoughtful!

  • It still counts   LOL,    nice to see the blue sky too :)     I hope to get Rowan trees eventually and a few extra berry shrubs to encourage those birds who like to eat the fruit.   I love seeing new species but think I will be lucky to see more ........but with birding ......you never know what will surprise us next !
