Haiku's - Some of Nature's 'Little ones'

Hummingbird

Bone-china lightness

like fanning rainbow paper.

Speared probes drink nectar

Goldcrest

Miniature plumpness

royally crowned in orange-gold

trills to splinter glass

Pipestrelle Bat

High-pitched sound wave; in

minute dusk navigation.

Flight of stretched membrane

(minute – adj form)

Little Owl

Disc- miniature face,

brows stern. Diurnal friend of man

bobs when disquieted

Storm Petrel

Dots of splattered ink

Hunt seafood with dancing feet.

Roost in midnight dark

Dik- Dik

Diminutive limbs

hold graceful bodies; alert

always for Cheetah

Poetry helped me emerge from my Chrysalis - but my wings are still drying - so much more to learn.

  • Only just noticed these, CALICO  -  they are all great, my favourites are the 1st two.  Must have a go myself at Haiku's.

  • Thanks! Please do - they are great fun - but do need thinking about.

5 Syllables - 1st line, 7 syllables - 2nd line, 5 syllables - 3rd line - can be continuous, main thread from original Japanese form is nature - somehow incorporating a season, indirectly or directly. However in modern form - Haiku can take on many forms but with the same original syllable count.

    Good luck!
