Hi, I have pigeons nesting under my solar panels. They are not wood pigeons. What steps are suitable to discourage/ prevent this from happening and would this have to happen outside of their nesting season? Thanks.
Pigeons nest all year round - you need to chat to specialist solar fitters as to how to prevent/ discourage this. Under the panels is a lovely safe place for them

Thank you, I thought they may have a long nesting season. And yes it's very innovative of them to nest under the panels, and if it wasn't for the amount of waste they produced I'd be happy for them to stay.
You can get proper mesh grills to fit around the edge of the solar panels to prevent pigeons using the gap, often nowadays fitted at the time of installation. Assuming they're on the house roof, bit of a hassle retrofitting them but might be worth it if the birds are causing a mess

Thanks, they are on the roof. The panels are 5 years old and the pigeons have moved in just this year. I will look at the netting options but was worried about disturbing them during nesting season. Meantime I'll keep hosing down the patio slabs .
